Betty A. (Johnson) Widell
October 29, 1928 ~ February 27, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years OldBetty A. Widell, age 88 years, of Lynn died Monday at Kaplan Family Hospice House after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Edward A. Widell, with whom she shared 31 years of marriage.
Born in Braintree she was the daughter of the late Sigurd and Anna (Anderson) Johnson. She attended Braintree schools and graduated from Braintree High School. She was employed for many years as an Administrative Assistant in the executive offices of Loews Theaters in New York City before moving home to Massachusetts. Upon her return, she was employed for over twenty five years as an Administrative Assistant in the executive offices at General Cinema Corporation in Chestnut Hill, MA. Her work inspired her love for the movies and she was awarded a "lifetime pass" from General Cinema upon her retirement. Betty was an active member at Grace United Methodist Church and the former Wesley United Methodist Church. She was active in the Women's Club, Bible Study, and frequently volunteered her time to church efforts. She was also a longtime volunteer at Union Hospital and an active member of the Salvation Army in Saugus. Betty loved going to the beach, traveling, gardening, and watching Red Sox games. She especially enjoyed dining out and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her brother Robert and his wife Betty of Canton, three close nieces Arlene and her husband Jay Childs of Exeter, NH, Sharon and her husband Richard Fredette of Amherst, NH, Anne and her husband Mark Murphy of Bradford, a sister-in-law Sarah A. Johnson of Exeter, NH, a brother-in-law Kenneth Kuck of Albany, NY, a godchild Carol and her husband James Peck of Sprakers, NY, her neighbors Michelle and Michael Tarasuik of Lynn, and many other nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. She was also sister to the late S. Lawrence Johnson, Phillip E. Johnson, and June Kuck.
Service Details: Visiting hours will be held at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Saturday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM, followed by funeral services at Grace United Methodist Church at 11:30 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Please make memorial donations in Betty’s name to Grace United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
