Obituary

Barefoot Bay, Florida formally of Lynn, MA, passed away December 29th peacefully in hospice following a short illness. Yvonne is predeceased by her loving husband James who she shared 49 years of wonderful marriage before his passing.

Yvonne was born on October 15th, 1939, in Stockbridge, Scotland, a small suburb of Edinburgh. Shortly after her marriage to James in 1960 they immigrated to the United States. Yvonne started working for Sears and Roebuck Co. as a clerk in the credit department, then worked for Lynn Institution for Savings and eventually Eastern Bank where she retired from the mortgage department after 25 years.

Soon after her retirement, Yvonne fulfilled their dream of moving to Florida. Yvonne was very active in her years in Florida; she was a member of the Red Hat Society, she was the secretary of the British Heritage Club, and a member of the local Moose Lodge. Yvonne’s biggest pastime was reading, there were not many moments when she didn’t have a book in her hand. Yvonne was also an avid card player, where she played almost weekly. Yvonne was an Auxiliary volunteer at the Sebastian River Medical Center for just over 20 years. Yvonne had a great circle of friends in Florida, and she will be deeply missed.

Yvonne’s greatest passion was traveling. James’s job in the airlines allowed her to travel to almost all corners of the world, from Australia or Hawaii, Hong Kong or New Zealand and to most parts of Europe and the USA. Yvonne enjoyed many weekend getaways to San Francisco or Las Vegas and spending many visits almost yearly to Scottsdale, Arizona.

Yvonne is predeceased by three brothers; Patrick, James and Robert and a sister Stella.

Yvonne leaves behind three sons, Paul Sutherland of Haverhill, Ma and his partner Nancy Fay. Brian Sutherland and his wife Debbie of Lynn, Ma. Peter Sutherland of Lynn, Ma and his partner Kimberly Aster. Yvonne also leaves behind 6 wonderful grandchildren; Brittany, Paige, Kyle, Cody, Madison, and Mason.

Many loving nieces and nephews from all parts of the world and many dear friends, and of course Sky; her beloved cat who she adored and treated like royalty. Yvonne’s smile and hint of a Scottish accent will be missed by all. Private services were held at the Parker Funeral Home.
