William “Sully” P. Sullivan, 74, passed away January 22, 2020, at his home in Lynn.
Born on August 29, 1945, in Boston, Sully was the son of the late William C. and Grace (Peyton) Sullivan. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After the military, he worked as a machinist at General Electric for many years until his retirement in 2011.
While Sully lived modestly, he was loving and generous to his family and friends. He was a traveler and lifelong learner. He was a voracious reader with a sharp wit and delightfully dark sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with family, studying French and exploring museums. He loved his daily walks along the beach, which even hurricanes couldn’t pause. Sully also loved his bikes – both the bicycles he would take on long tours and races, and his Ducati motorcycle.
He is survived by his daughter Julie (Sullivan) Patterson; grandchildren Kelsey O’Connor and Trevor Patterson; his former wife Penny Sullivan; his sisters Paula Faino and her husband Richard, Mary Sullivan, and Denise Stewart and her husband Tom; his brother Dennis Sullivan and his wife Ann Marie; and several nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his brother David Sullivan.
Funeral services will be private.
