Thomas Pappas Obituary

Thomas Pappas age 91, of Lynn died Monday February 13th after a brief illness. Born in Lynn he was the son of the late Aristedes and Kaliope (Sarandopoulos) Pappadopoulos. Tom attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1950. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. Tom was an entrepreneur and owned several businesses in Lynn including Angelina’s Sub Shop on Washington St., Hines Liquors on Western Ave. and Goodwin’s Restaurant in Lynnfield. He was a member of the Franco American Post 161 in Lynn.

Tom loved nothing more than his family.  He was the last of his generation and grew up in a tightly knit family comprised of cherished sisters and first cousins.  He helped teach the following generations the importance of family, the importance of a good laugh and the importance of caring for one another.  He was predeceased by sisters Betty Yanakakis and Poppy Larson as well as his three cousins Louis Pappas, Katherine Arvanites and Ann DeLeon.  Uncle Tommy leaves behind an extended family that will hold him in their hearts.  Nieces and nephews: Cleo Alexander (Gerry), Carol Jefferson (Francis), AJ Yanakakis (Lindsey), Lisa Yanakakis (David), Michael Yanakakis, Dawn McGann (Rich), Vicki Larson (Karen), Peter Arvanites (Cindi), Diane Arvanites (Tommy), Elaine Parsons (Steve), Cat DeLeon, Tom Pappas (Jill) and Cynthia Pappas. He is survived by his grandnieces and grandnephews Elisabeth Cox (Patrick), Rachel Alexander (Elijah), Zoe Jefferson (Melissa), Elias Jefferson, Jack Yanakakis, Sam Yanakakis, Aristaia Yanakakis-Carroll, Axelle Yanakakis-Carroll, Cassidy McGann, Kate Arvanites, Alexandra Arvanites, Adam Noya, Stephanie Parsons, Christina Pappas (Zach), Michael Pappas (Kirsten) and Melissa Pappas.  Additionally, he leaves his great-grandnieces Alivia, Avery and Kennedy and his great-grandnephew Maverick. Our Uncle Tommy was the most unforgettable character we ever met and he will be missed!

His family would like to thank Marie Carver for all the kindness she showed him at St Theresa House and would also like to thank his hospice team at Care Dimensions.
