Susan P. (Prater) Doane

Susan P. (Prater) Doane, age 70, passed away Sunday Dec. 1st surrounded by her family after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was the wife of Fred M. Doane with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. 

Born in Bellefontaine, Ohio she was daughter of the late Robert Prater and Gloria Ringdahl. Susan attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1967. She lived in Lynn and North Andover before retiring in Tamworth, NH. She was employed as a Child Care Provider for Catholic Family Services, worked for West Lynn Creamery, and was a former lunch aide at Cobbett Elementary School. She enjoyed cooking, bingo, crocheting, puzzles, the Wizard of Oz, slots and peacocks. Most of all she loved taking care of and gathering with her family and friends. 

In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters Stacy R. Doane of Peabody, Krysten L. and her husband Thomas Howell of Haverhill, one brother Robert Prater of North Carolina, one sister Patricia Ball of Nahant, four grandchildren Susan and Amy Steeves both of Peabody, Daniel and Courtney Howell both of Haverhill, an Uncle Paul McCormack, and her cousin and best friend Sandy L. Lwowski.

Service Details: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Lynn on Friday at 10:30 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Susan’s name to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute 450 Brookline Ave. Boston, MA 02115.  www.dana-farber.org
