Sarah L. Dean

 Sarah L. Dean, age 67, died Monday February 3rd, at her home in Beverly, surrounded by her family after a brief illness. Born in Manchester-by-the-Sea, she was the daughter of the late Marion L. (Loeman) and William J. Dean, Jr. Sarah attended schools in Manchester and graduated from Manchester-by-the-Sea High School, Class of 1970. She earned an Associate’s Degree from Garland Junior College, and a second Associate’s Degree from North Shore Community College. She was employed as an Assistant Program Director at Northeastern Family Institute for many years and as a nanny for a family in Manchester-by-the-Sea. Sarah was active in and served as deacon at the Grace Community Church in Marblehead, and was a member of the Manchester Garden Club. She volunteered at the Beverly Senior Center, and enjoyed sewing, animals, and was an avid cribbage player.

She is survived by two sons, Peter W. (Bill) and his wife Jessica Hanscom of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Bryan Hanscom of Beverly; two sisters, Juddy Hayden Dean of Essex, Laddie-Leah Weld of Danvers; three grandchildren Lincoln, Elliot, and Luna Hanscom all of Manchester-by-the-Sea; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Grace Community Church, 17 Pleasant St. Marblehead on Saturday February 29th, 11 a.m. to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made be made to Grace Community Church in Sarah's memory.
