Miss Miriam R. Stier, age 90, of Bedford, NH and formerly of New Boston, NH and Saugus, MA died peacefully Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Bedford Falls after a brief illness.
Born in Lynn, MA, she was the daughter of the later William A. and Florence J. (Beers) Stier. Miriam attended schools in Lynn, MA and New Boston, NH and graduated from New Boston High School, New Boston, NH, class of 1947. She also graduated from Burdett Business School and received an Associates Degree from Boston University, class of 1965.
Miriam was employed as a secretary at North Shore Boy Scouts of America, senior secretary at H.P. Hood and Sons, financial assistant at Hale & Dorr, and legal assistant at Choat, Hall & Stewart; Withington, Cross, Park & Groden; Bowker, Elmes, Perkins, Smith & Cohen; Bowker Elmes Perkins & Gerard; and Jager, Smith, Perkins & Arata.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Lynn, Congregational, where she sang in the choir, was a deacon, member of the Finance Committee, Music Committee and Benevolence Committee. She was a member of the Joe English Grange in New Boston, NH for 70 years as well as a past president and member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Lynn. She also enjoyed baking, gardening, bowling, making piccalilli and jams, and cake decorating for church functions.
She is survived by two sisters, Elsie M. Letendre of Leesburg, VA and Florence L. Holbrook of New Boston, NH; and she was also the sister to the late Marjorie J. Stier, her twin sister, and the late Arthur W. Stier. She is survived by four nieces, four nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews, and three great-great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Parker Funeral Home and calling hours will be from 10:00 to 12:00 at the First Church of Christ in Lynn, Congregational, 678 Lynnfield St, Lynn, MA 01904 on Wednesday, May 29th, with services immediately following.
