Margarita (Castillo) Hunter

Margarita Hunter, age 83, of Salem MA, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on July 11, 2020, after a long battle with Cancer. Born in Alahula, Costa Rica she was the daughter of the late Domingo Venegas Castillo and Berta Soto Conejo. Margarita graduated from High School, and received an Associate’s Degree while in Costa Rica. She moved to Salem in 1962 and has resided in Salem since. She was employed as an assembler in several Salem Shoe Factories until she retired in 2002. After she retired she helped raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing dominos, dancing, card games and scratch tickets. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Margarita was the Matriarch of our family, the life of the party, and the beat to our hearts. Loving mother of one son Carlos Morua, three daughters Maritza Hunter, Maribel Thomas, Susana Hunter DeAraujo, and the late Giselle Morua, as well as her only brother Ramon Venegas of Upala Costa Rica. Survived by 17 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren, many nieces & nephews, and many close friends.

Service Details:

Visiting hours will be held at The Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Wednesday from 11:00am – 1:00pm. 

Funeral services will begin at 12:30pm.

Burial to follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery on 57 Orne Street Salem, MA.
