John H. Moriarty, Sr.

John H. Moriarty, Sr., of Lynn died Sunday Nov. 5th at his home after a lengthy illness, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Glenna E. (Taylor) Moriarty with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn he was the son of the late Paul J. and Cecelia (Butler) Moriarty. John attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1959. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed at the General Electric in the security department for 32 years until he retired in 2000. John liked spending time at his summer homes in Newport and Starks, Maine.  He enjoyed collecting coins and baseball cards, country music, playing his guitar and the Boston Red Sox. John was a member of the IUE Local 201.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons John H. and his wife Carrie Moriarty, Jr. of Peabody, Michael S. Moriarty, Sr. of Lynn, one sister Mary Lannon of Lynn, a brother-in-law Gene and his wife Anne Taylor of Athol, three grandchildren Christian LeBlanc of Peabody, Michael S. Moriarty, Jr of El Paso, TX, Ashley Moriarty of Lynn, one great grandson Jonathan Rojas, and many nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Paul J. Moriarty, grandfather of the late Kristina Chiarodonna, Layne A Moriarty, and brother-in-law of the late Robert and Bruce Taylor.

Service Details: John’s funeral will be held at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Monday Nov. 13th at 11:30 AM. to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours are at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 – 4:00 PM.
