James S. “Jack” Giardina, age 89, of Peabody, died at his home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Karen (LaFollette) Giardina, they were together for 44 years and married for the last 20 years.
Born in Boston he was the son of the late Giacomo and Guiseppina (Giardino) Giardina. He attended schools in Boston. Jack was employed as Foreman at Benson Shoe in Lynn. He was also employed at Suffolk Downs for many years. He enjoyed going to Suffolk Downs playing the horses, trips to Foxwoods and Twin Rivers, Scratch Tickets and playing poker and other card games on his computer. He also enjoyed traveling, especially taking his grandchildren to Disneyland in Orlando.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons Stephen Giardina of Orlando, FL, James (Jizzy) and his wife Milva Giardina of East Boston, Richard and his wife Meca Giardina of Brazil, one daughter Julie-Ann and her husband Frank Strangie of East Boston, one Step-son Jason and his wife Tracy Elliott of Peabody, two step-daughters Tina Elliott of Peabody, Tonya Elliott and her fiancé Christopher Hernandez of Tewksbury, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, one step- great grandson, and many nieces and nephews.
Service Details: Funeral Services will be held at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Tuesday at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. Visiting hours are on Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Please make memorial donations in Jack’s memory to Care Dimensions 75 Sylvan St. Danvers, MA 01923.
