James Leon Shearer, age 64 of Lynn died Sunday May 7th at Life Care of the North Shore after a brief illness. Born in Richmond, KY he was the son of the late Nancy Lee (Shearer) Price. He was educated in Boston schools and graduated from Boston Latin High School. He volunteered in homeless shelters in Boston for many years, and was employed as a street sweeper for the city of Boston. He was also one of the founders, writers and editors of the Spare Change News in Harvard Square.
He is survived by two brothers Eddie Kent of Dorchester, Charles Shearer of White Plains, NY one sister Yvette Fix of Dorchester, and a close friend Lynda E. Russo of Lynn.
Memorial Services will be held at the First Church in Cambridge 11Garden St. Cambridge on June 3rd at 10:30 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend.
