Hazen C. Ward

Hazen C. Ward, 82 of Lynn passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 5, 2019 at Massachusetts General Hospital following a brief illness. Hazen was the loving husband of Virginia (Anne) Ward with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in Orleans, Vermont he was the son of the late Clinton and Caroline (Hussey) Ward.  He was a graduate of Barton Academy in Barton, VT, Class of 1954. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1958.  

Hazen was an employee at Verizon for 33 years.  He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, a former member of Gannon Golf Club and an active member of the First Church of Christ in Lynn, Congregational for over 60 years serving as head usher and Chairman of the Property Committee, and was the chef for all of the church functions. 

Hazen had a quick wit, a strong faith and was a loyal friend to many.  His greatest joy was his family and he was always happiest when they were all together.

In addition to his wife he leaves behind his children: Robyn Prendergast and her husband Ron of Lynn, Diane Donaher and her husband Michael of Hudson, NH and Cory Ward and his wife Melanie of Wenham and his grandchildren Ryan Prendergast and his wife Mary of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Aaron Prendergast of Lynn, Joshua, Emily, Nathanael and Abigail Ward of Wenham, MA along with many nieces and nephews.  He was the brother of the late Thea Warren.

Service Details: Hazen’s funeral will be held at the First Church of Christ in Lynn, Congregational on Saturday at 10:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to the First Church of Christ in Lynn, Congregational, 678 Lynnfield St. Lynn, MA 01904.
