Gwendolyn Hampton, of Lynn died Sunday Nov. 28th at Genesis at Wakefield after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Samuel Hampton with whom she shared 5 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn she was the daughter of the late Frank S. and Effie (Burris) Sport. Gwen attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1944. She was employed by the City of Lynn as the Assistant Health Director for many years. Gwen was a member of the Bethel A. M. E. Church in Lynn, a life member and Past Worthy Grand Matron, of Order of the Eastern Star Prince Hall Masons in Boston and the Retired, State, County, and Municipal Employees Association. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her nieces and nephews, and going out to eat.
Service Details: Her Funeral will be held in the Bethel A. M. E. 72 Silsbee Street Lynn on Thursday at 10:00 AM followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Wednesday from 3:00 – 5:00 PM Wednesday. Please make memorial donations in Gwen’s name to Bethel A. M. E
