Fred Lang, Jr. Obituary

Fred W. Lang, Jr. of Lynn, 94, died Sunday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a brief illness. He was the husband of Lorraine N. (Granger) Lang with whom he shared 70 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Fred W. and Geraldine R. Lang, Sr. He attended Lynn Schools and graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1945. Fred served in the United States Navy during WWII. He entered the General Electric Apprentice Program after returning from the war, and spent his entire career at the Riverworks Plant retiring as an Analyst in 1987. He was a member of the Captain William Shoemaker Post #345, Mt Carmel Masonic Lodge, Grace United Methodist Church, and the former Wesley (Lakeside) United Methodist Church. Fred loved the outdoors, whether it was working in his own yard or hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling with his wife and family. He could also be found woodworking, or helping his sons in their carpentry and landscaping businesses. Fred was a former Little League Coach and Sunday School Teacher. He loved his family and was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments. His smile could light up a room when surrounded by family and pets. He also enjoyed watching the Patriots and Red Sox, following the stock market, and playing poker on his IPad.

In addition to his wife Lorraine, he is survived by three daughters: Cynthia Hawkins of Lynn; Linda Diver, and her husband Bruce of Boxford; Alison Bruyette of Haverhill; ten grandchildren, Christopher, Brian, Dustin, Kristina, Jill, Amanda, Ashley, Nicolle, Jason and Courtney; seven great-grandchildren, one nephew, four nieces, and many cousins.
