Franklin P. Blaisdell

Frank was born in Lynn, MA and lived there all his life. He attended Lynn schools including Lynn Woods School, Pickering Junior High and the newly completed Lynn English High School. Franklin majored in the college course, but World War II intervened and he enlisted in the U. S. Navy in July of 1943. He was active in the Navy rising to the rank of Gunners Mate 2nd Class, and was present at the Battle of the Philippines, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and the occupation of Japan.

Frank mustered out of the navy in December of 1946 and came home to Lynn. He joined the General Electric Apprentice Program and was educated by the GE in their Ship Propulsion section as part of the MIT Lowell Institute where he earned 2 two years degrees in Electrical Design and Mechanical Design. Franklin also married his beloved Barbara and they had a loving son John. He maintained many interests throughout life including history, science, nature, gardening, boat building and playing the bagpipes. Franklin was well loved by all and will be missed by all his family and neighbors. Frank leaves behind his loving son and lifelong friend John, who will never forget him.

Service Details: Franklin’s visiting hours will be held at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Friday from 11:00 – 1:00 PM, followed by graveside services at Pine Grove Cemetery to which relatives and friends are invited to attend.
