Eunice J. Blatchford, age 85 years, of Swampscott, formerly of Lynn, died Friday at the Bertram House in Swampscott after a lengthy illness. The wife of the late James F. Blatchford, Jr. with whom she spent 42 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Jesse (Hadfield) Fraser. She attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1952 and then went on to graduate from Lynn Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, Class of 1955. Eunice was employed as an operating room nurse at Lynn Hospital for several years until she left her professional life to raise her family. With a passion for music, she had a beautiful singing voice which she shared during many solo performances for Lynn Hospital Variety Shows. Eunice loved spending time at home with her family whether it be in Lynn or our second home in Pittsfield, VT. She also loved her dogs, Missy and Sheila, and was a huge Red Sox fan. Eunice is survived by her son James F. Blatchford III and his wife Beth of Melrose, three daughters Charlotte A. and her husband Mark Upham of Swampscott, Jane F. and her husband Jay Fiste of Lynn, Sarah E. Phelan of Salem, as well as ten beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexander, Harry, Hannah, Maggie, Peter, Anna, Emily, Elizabeth, and Lillian, several nieces and nephews, and her lifelong best friend Mary Lou Collins of Lynn.
Service Details: Eunice’s visiting hours will be held at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Please wear masks and adhere to the social distancing guidelines recommended by the CDC and Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Burial will be Private in Pine Grove Cemetery.
