Dorothy Greco (Thomas) Layton

Dorothy Greco Layton age 92, of Swampscott, passed peacefully on Thursday August 13th at Alliance Health at Abbott House Nursing Home in Lynn after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Matthew L. Greco, Jr. and Richard E. Layton.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Lillian (LeMay) Thomas, Sr. She attended Salem Public Schools graduating from Salem High School, Class of 1946. She lived in Nahant for many years until she remarried and moved to Maine where she resided until moving to Swampscott in 2010. Dorothy enjoyed homemaking, gardening, walking, and traveling both in this country and abroad.

She is survived by 4 sons Matthew L. Greco and his wife Carol of Lynn, Frederick J. Greco and his wife Evelyn of Swampscott, Thomas J. Greco of Rochester, NH, John J. Greco and his wife Deborah of Woburn, stepdaughter Jane Layton of Lincoln,  stepson Carl Layton and his wife Grace of Pepperell, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Herbert Thomas, Jr. and Lillian Gray.

Service Details: Private services will be held at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Thursday, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Berwick, Maine. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to the Activities Fund at Alliance Health at Abbott House, 28 Essex St. Lynn, MA 01902, in appreciation of the loving care she received.
