Charles "Charlie" Forrest Obituary

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE

Charles R. Forrest, of Lynn, age 90, died peacefully Thursday at the Brudnick Center in Peabody after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Rosaline “Lynne” H. (d’Entremont) Forrest with whom he shared 37 years of marriage and Sheila M. (Wiltshire) Palin Forrest with whom he shared 30 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn he was the son of the late Wilfred “Fred” D. and Mary L. (Spelman) Forrest. Charles “Charlie” or “Dick” attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn Vocational High School, Class of 1948. After High School, he joined the U. S. Navy and served 3 years and 8 months during the Korean War. He was employed at Champion Lamp in Lynn for several years and later at Lynn Hospital in the Maintenance Department for many years until he retired in 1994. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

Charles was very talented in completing projects around his home; he enjoyed painting, wallpapering, and woodworking. “A jack of all trades.” An innovative thinker who could repair anything in his house from door jambs to leaking faucets to installing air conditioners; you name it. He could fix it. He was also a history buff and enjoyed reading all about the history of the United States. He also enjoyed sports especially baseball and played in the Annual Challenger Little League Game with his grandson Kevin. Above all
Charlie loved his family and always put them first, and never hesitated to sacrifice to help his children or his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Nanette M. and her husband Philip “Allan” McCarthy of Lynn two sons Richard D. and his wife Karen Forrest of Grafton, Scott C. Forrest-Allen and his husband Jason Allen-Forrest of Lynn, one sister Margaret “Marie” Forrest of Ojai, CA, one brother Phillip “Roy” and his wife Delores Forrest of Kingman, AZ, four grandchildren Gail M. McCarthy of Lynn, Paul A. McCarthy and his fiancé Jessica Chan of Lynn, Timothy D. Forrest of Rutland, and his girlfriend Emily Philbrook of Uxbridge,  Bradley J. Forrest of Grafton, and several cousins, particularly Cousin Linda Margeson with whom he was very close and shared much fun and laughter. He was also grandfather of the late Kevin A. McCarthy and brother of the late Robert “Bob” Forrest.
