Charles J. Carteris, age 80 years, of Lynn died unexpectedly Monday at Salem Hospital after collapsing in the parking lot at the hospital. He was the husband of Theresa A. (Bruzzese) Carteris with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn he was the son of the late James and Helen (Nicolopoulos) Carteris. He attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School. Charles was employed as a cook at Augustine’s Restaurant in Saugus, and then at Union Hospital until he retired in 2005. He enjoyed playing cards, bingo and going fishing. He was an avid New York Yankees, and New York Giants fan.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one brother Christopher Carteris of Lynn, three sisters Audrey Talarico of Milford, NH, Lee Laganas of Marblehead, Ann Carteris of Lynn, his mother-in-law Ruth McGovern of Lynn, two sisters-in-law Doreen McGovern of Lynn, Patricia Torance of Lynn, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ernest Carteris, Peter Carteris and Catherine “Kitty” Theodore, and brother-in-law of the late Thomas Bruzzese.
Service Details: Charles’s visiting hours will be held at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Friday from 11:00 – 1:00 PM Friday to which relatives and friend are invited to attend. Please adhere to the social distancing guidelines set forth by the CDC and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Funeral will be private, Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
