Arthur M. Jorgenson, Jr. age 78, of Peabody, formerly of Lynn, died Thursday at Sunrise Assisted Living in Lynnfield after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Virginia “Ginny” L. (Durland) Jorgenson, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Born in Boston he was the son of the late Arthur M. Jorgenson, Sr. and Evelyn M. (Jones) Curran. Art attended schools in Lynnfield and graduated from Lynnfield High School Class of 1960. He also attended Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont and served in the U. S. Marines. He was employed as a Facilities Analyst at the General Electric until he retired in 2004. Art was a member of the Community Covenant Church in Peabody and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for many years. Arthur loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed his vacation home in Wakefield, NH.
He is survived by his son Adam and his wife Tracey Jorgenson of Peabody, his daughter Amy and her husband Alan Cassidy of Peabody, one sister Astrid Chambers of Council, Idaho, six grandchildren Nathaniel, Hannah, Hunter, and Bryce Jorgenson, Olivia and Austin Cassidy all of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews.
Service Details: Art’s visiting hours will be held at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Sunday Oct. 13th from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park on Saturday Oct. 19th at 2:30 PM, followed by Memorial Services in the Community Covenant Church 33 Lake St. Peabody at 3:00 PM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Please make memorial donations in Arthur’s name to the Community Covenant Church.
