Walter V. Donigian

Walter V. Donigian, age 90 years of Saugus, formerly of Lynn died Monday at the Rubin Home in Saugus after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Mary (Magarian) Donigian with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn he was the son of the late Hapeth and Margaret Donigian. He attended Lynn schools. He joined the U. S. Army and served in Germany during W. W. II. Walter along with his wife Mary owned and operated Magarian Rug Cleaners in Lynn for many years until he retired in 2001. He was a member of Baystate Lodge #40, I. O. O. F., where he served as financial secretary for many years. Walter was a member of Mt. Carmel Lodge A. F. & A. M., Massachusetts Consistory, and Aleppo Temple. He was a volunteer at bingo every Saturday Night at Oddfellows, and also, at the Shriners Circus in Wilmington. Walter enjoyed playing Backgammon. He also enjoyed working on and driving his 1967 Buick LeSabre Convertible.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son Steven M. and his wife Robin Donigian of Wakefield, one daughter Susan D. Smith of Mansfield, one sister Rosalie and her husband Kenneth Kizirian of Waltham, five grandchildren Lindsay and her husband Jim Censabella, Laura and her husband Derek Holland, Julia Donigian, Melissa and Matthew Smith, two great grandchildren, and one niece and one nephew. Walter was also the brother of the late Albert H. Donigian.

Service Details: Funeral services will be held at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Friday at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Please make memorial donations in Walter’s name to Shriners Hospitals for Children 51 Blossom St. Boston, MA 02114.
