Rev. Nancy J. Beckwith, age 58 years of Lynn died Monday at Grosvenor Park Health Care in Salem, following a lengthy battle with cancer, surrounded by her family. Born in Lynn she was the daughter June E. (Larson) Beckwith of Lynn and the late John E. Beckwith. She attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1978, she received a Bachelor’s Degree from Bates College in Lewiston, ME, Class of 1982. She earned a Master’s Degree in Divinity in 2009 and a Master’s Degree of Sacred Theology in 2017 from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. Nancy was the pastor of the Zion Lutheran Church in Oxford, MA until she retired due to health reasons. After graduating from Bates, Nancy worked as the Program Director at the Girls Club in Lynn, and then worked for almost 20 years New England Life/MetLife in their IT department, before pursuing her career in the Ministry. Her many volunteer activities, included project manager, for the rehabilitation of the homeless shelter at University Lutheran in Cambridge and former chair of the board of Camp Calumet in Ossipee, NH. Nancy was a member of the First Lutheran, and sang in the Worcester Chorus.
In addition to her mother she is survived by one sister Diane J. Beckwith of Lynn, and many aunts, uncle, cousins and close friends.
Service Details: Nancy’s funeral will be held at the First Lutheran Church 280 Broadway Lynn on Saturday at 10:30 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.
