Paul V. Floyd age 71 years, of Lynn died Saturday at Union Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Joseph G. and Anna J. (Burke) Floyd.
He attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1964. Paul was an actor, musician and comedian and began his career on Broadway as a child actor in Music Man, played even different roles in the Unsinkable Molly Brown, appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show, had a part in the Connecticut lottery commercials and Brigham commercials. He was a vocalist in Tall Paul and Pall Bearers Band, Paul co-owned Strawhat Productions, was a school teacher at Lynn Vocational Technical Institute, owned a painting and papering company in Lynn, and retired from Essex County House of Correction in Middleton as the Superintendent of Councilors in 2002. He was mentor to many young people both at the jail where he was employed and in the greater Lynn community. Paul was also a Justice of the Peace, and officiated in many weddings over the years, personally authoring each wedding ceremony, making each ceremony unique.
He is survived by two brothers Joseph and his wife Dianna Floyd of Nokomis, FL, Dennis and his wife Linda Floyd of Peabody four nephews Jamie Floyd of Lynn, Dennis Floyd Jr. of Georgetown, Keith Floyd of Kansas City, MO, Barry Floyd of Noblesville, IN, two close friends Matthew and his wife Jody DeAmelio of Lynn, Michael and Michele Tarasuik of Lynn, and many other close friend and associates.
Service Details: A Celebration of Paul’s life will begin with a gathering of family and friends at Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Thursday from 3:00 – 6:00 PM followed by Memorial Services at 6:00 PM to which family and friends are invited to attend.
