Betty A. Widell, age 88 years, of Lynn died Monday at Kaplan Family Hospice House after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Edward A. Widell, with whom she shared 31 years of marriage.

She was employed for many years as an Administrative Assistant in the executive offices of Loews Theaters in New York City before moving home to Massachusetts.  Upon her return, she was employed for over twenty five years as an Administrative Assistant in the executive offices at General Cinema Corporation in Chestnut Hill, MA. Her work inspired her love for the movies and she was awarded a "lifetime pass" from General Cinema upon her retirement. Betty was an active member at Grace United Methodist Church and the former Wesley United Methodist Church. She was active in the Women's Club, Bible Study, and frequently volunteered her time to church efforts. She was also a longtime volunteer at Union Hospital and an active member of the Salvation Army in Saugus. Betty loved going to the beach, traveling, gardening, and watching Red Sox games.
